At Home Science Project!

Here's a neat project that you can do with a few simple household ingredients (just make sure you get permission first):

Oobleck
This non-Newtonian liquid is hours of fun...but not for eating!

Ingredients
1/2 cup cornstarch
1/4 cup water
Food Coloring

You will also need:
Mixing Bowl
Mixing Spoon

Directions
  1. Slowly mix cornstarch and water in bowl.
  2. Add a few drops of food coloring.
  3. Stir just a little bit with the spoon and then use hands to mix.
  4. Oobleck is ready when you can roll it into a soft ball…and then it should melt off of your hand!

What are Trilobites?

Trilobites were animals that lived over 300 million years ago (long before the dinosaurs lived). Living in the ancient seas, these hard-shelled creatures might have looked like modern day crustaceans (lobsters and crabs), and they could roll their bodies up much like the roly-poly bugs you have in your backyard. Although these fascinating animals went extinct (all died out), a long time ago we can still learn about them from the fossil remains they left behind.
